Eirwyn tucked her hair behind her ear as she read over her Charms textbook. It was a warm, beautiful day out, and she'd long ago shed her robe in favor of basking in the sun in just her uniform shirt and skirt. She sat in the wide open expanse of green grass as she studied, one hundred percent shut off from the world.
Except she wasn't studying. She was thinking over the last time she'd spoken to Dastan. She'd failed to pin down Astin and even say two words to him, and now it seemed that they'd fixed things. While that was all well and good, she did feel a little guilty for not helping as she'd promised.
Later, perhaps, she would hunt the Hufflepuff down and try to correct that. Late was better than never, right? Right.
With that decided in her mind, she tried to focus on her reading.

Griffin was walking across the lawn. He knew that he should be doing some work, but it was such a beautiful, warm day that he couldn't help but to go outside to stroll. The grass was green and waved lightly in the breeze. The sun glistened off the castle windows.
He looked over to see Eirwyn sitting in the tall grass reading one of her textbooks. He stopped in his tracts. He wanted to go talk to her, but was afraid of frightening her again. She was so beautiful as her flaming hair blew around her face in the breeze. He had just taken a step toward her when the breze suddenly picked up into a light wind.

Eirwyn blinked as the wind picked up, blowing her pages and making her lose her spot. It whipped her hair into her eyes and prevented her from being able to see much of anything. With a slightly annoyed sigh, she closed the book and set it beside her. She squinted into the bright blue sky, brushing her hair out of her face with a delicate hand.
Her bright eyes caught sight of Griffin, and she looked away awkwardly. She still wasn't entirely sure where she stood in their relationship. After all, he had been rather jerk-ish, and she could surely do better. On the other hand, deep down, she had to admit to herself that he wasn't so bad. She liked that he was persistent, but she was afraid that she was eventually going to drive him off by being so cold to him. He brought out the worst in her.
She wasn't normally closed-off. Naturally, she was a warm person who loved making new friends. But when faced with Griffin, she turned argumentative and immature. She hated it.

When the wind picked up, Eirwyn's hair blew around her face like fire. She looked so beautiful that Griffin stopped dead in his tracks for a moment. But he quickly recovered and boldly walked over to her. He stood right in front of her, blocking the sun and casting her in shadow. He smiled warmly, trying to show her that he really was a gentleman.
"Hi, Eirwyn. May I sit?"
Without waiting for an answer, he sat down next to her. But he was careful not to sit too close, because of her "no contact" rule. He was silent for a moment while he stared around him at the grass and the trees, admiring the beauty of it all. Then he turned to her and finally said what he had been dieing to say.
"Eirwyn, I know I've been a jerk and all, but I really like you. I was just wondering if you would like to go to the costume ball with me? You can pick the costumes if you want. You can make me wear tights and a tutu for all I care, if you'll just go with me."

Eirwyn squinted up at a dark figure when the sun was blocked. Who the heck...?
"Hi, Eirwyn. May I sit?"
Oh. Should've known.
She was about to tell him that yes, he could sit, very far away from her and preferably on a seat made of thumbtacks and broken glass, but he sat next to her anyway. She pouted and crossed her arms, looking away. Jerk.
"Eirwyn, I know I've been a jerk and all, but I really like you. I was just wondering if you would like to go to the costume ball with me? You can pick the costumes if you want. You can make me wear tights and a tutu for all I care, if you'll just go with me."
Eirwyn turned back, glaring fiercely. "What makes you think I'd go with a jerk like you? You're not exactly the first person who's asked me." The most attractive, perhaps, but certainly not the first or the nicest. She'd been asked by a couple Gryffindors, a seemingly well-meaning but frankly creepy Slytherin, and a Hufflepuff that reminded her of a toddler. But if all else failed, she knew a boy from her House without a date, and could always go with him.

Griffin couldn't believe that he was hearing this. This definitely wasn't going the way he had planned. He wasn't about to admit it, but she may be well on the way to breaking his heart. And with what she just said, it was already cracked. He moved to sit cross-legged in front of her and took both of her hands in his and willed his voice not to crack.
"Eirwyn, please. I don't understand why you havn't forgiven me yet. That was months ago. I've told a million times that I was sorry, and I truly am. I know that I have been a complete and total arse, but please, all I ask is that you forgive me. I really care for you. Even if you don't want to go tothe ball with me, then just please say that you'll forgive me?"

Eirwyn snatched her hands back like she'd been burned. The nerve of this kid!
"You just broke the no-contact rule," she said simply, standing. She grabbed her book, quickly dusted off her clothes, and pointedly marched off, away from Griffin.
She'd been trying to be nice. Sort of. She'd briefly considered it, fleetingly. But he couldn't even keep simple rules like not touching her now, so how could she expect him to be any better at the costume ball? She didn't like that she had to be rude and mean, but he was just... she hated him sometimes! What was she supposed to do, just swoon and pretend he'd never messed up? if he thought that, he had another thing coming!

(OCC. I do have permission to use Eirwyn.)
Griffin just stared after her for a minute before making up his mind. He jumped up and ran after her. He ran past her, weeled around, and stood right in front of her. She stopped walking for a minute, but then kept going. Griffin walked backwards trying to stay in front of her. She moved to the left, he went the same way, forcing her to look at him.
"Eirwyn, please. I didn't mean to break the rule. I didn't even realize.....AHHH. Help!"
Something had grabbed him from behind and flung him into the air. He was being tossed around vilently. He saw sky on minute, the castle the next. He wasn't sure which was was up. The he was tossed to the ground roughly. The wind was knocked out of him. But, before he could catch his breath, he was picked up again.

Elena sighed as she walked out of the castle, looking up at the sky. She was bored...There wasn't anything to do anymore. Or rather, there was nothing to do that interested her. Her mind flitted briefly to Viola and she wondered what the girl was doing, but she shrugged. The girl had her her own life to live. She took in a deep breath, taking in her surroundings. Truth was, she loved being outside but she never found the time to be anymore. This was a treat, and one she was going to enjoy.
She walked down the pathway, enjoying the greenery when she heard commotion to her right and looked over to see two people, a girl and a boy, near the Whomping Willow. She recognized the girl as Eirwyn, one of her Housemates and decided to walk over. As she walked, she saw the boy be picked up by the tree and flung around, being dropped and picked up yet again. She burst out laughing, unable to hold it in as she walked, doubling over in laughter. Eirwyn was just standing there, just watching him, which for some reason made Elena laugh harder. She managed to get over to where she was and stood next to her, letting out a giggle. "Hey, Eir. How's it going?" She managed to control herself, looking up as the tree flung the boy around and beat him with its branches. Boy, he was going to feel that in the morning.

Eirwyn wasn't entirely sure how she felt about Griffin being flung up and down by the tree. On one hand, it was sort of funny; on the other, she felt bad, since it was maybe the tiniest bit her fault.
"Hey, Eir. How's it going?"
Eirwyn shot her Housemate-- Elena something-or-other-- a quick glance before her eyes were back on Griffin. "Am I going insane, or is he actually being attacked by the Whomping Willow?" she asked. Without waiting for an answer, she pulled out her wand. Stupid boy. He was lucky she was so good at spells, or he'd be out of luck.
"Levicorpus!" With no small amount of effort, she lifted him out of the tree's grasp and deposited him none too gently on the lawn. She put her wand back into her robes and placed her hands on her hips. "You're an idiot," she remarked, suppressing a smile.
She started to walk off back to her common room, but then she turned back around to look at him. "By the way, find a knight costume," she said.
...what? He got attacked by a tree. The least she could do was go to the ball with him.

Elena was about to respond to her but Eirwyn had moved on already, talking to the boy about a knight costume. Costume? She wrinkled her nose. What cos--Oh, the ball...That's right, it was coming up soon. She didn't know when exactly, but she knew that she needed to get her ass in gear, finding her costume as well as asking Viola if she wanted to go. Somehow she doubted Viola would object to going to a dance, but she didn't know her completely yet, so she stopped herself from making assumptions. Instead, she distracted herself by turning her attention to the people she was standing next to.
"Hey, you all right there, bloke?" She smiled warmly at the boy, seeing now that he was a Hufflepuff. Boy, it seemed like they had the worst luck. She shrugged internally, pushing all distracting thoughts and eyed them both. They were going to the ball together? How interesting. They looked polar opposites. Still, she smiled again. "So do you guys know when the ball is? I didn't pay attention to the announcement..." She trailed off, her smile melting into sheepishness and she rubbed the back of her head, hoping that they wouldn't think she was too much of an idiot.

Viola was perched precariously on a stone ledge, reading a book on animagi. It was supposed to be a long, difficult piece of magic, but she fully intended to learn it. The breeze outside was pleasant after being trapped in the castle for so long. Even the sun felt good, even though she could feel the prickling on her skin that meant she was getting close to burning. She was just getting the an interesting section when heard the distinct laugh. It was familiar, and she knew exactly who it belonged to. She straightened up so fast to find Elena that she ended up tumbling off the ledge onto the grass.
When she regained her equilibrium, Viola located Elena talking to a beat up looking boy on the ground. She walked up behind her, and slipped her arms around Elena's waist. "My, my. You aren't beating up another student, are you E?"

"By the way, find a knight costume."
Griffin couldn't stop smiling as Eirwyn walked away. He was accually going to the costume ball with her. And she wasn't going to make him wear something rediculous. He was still laying on the ground when he noticed a girl talking to him.
"Hey, you all right there, bloke? So do you guys know when the ball is? I didn't pay attention to the announcement..."
"Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. But the date was changed, because the Great Hall was being renovated."
Griffin got up and brushed himself off just as another girl walked up and asked the girl he was talking to if she was beating him up. He was about to protest when he stupidly realized that it was just a joke.

"My, my. You aren't beating up another student, are you E?"
Elena jumped slightly, taken aback by the sudden contact. She glanced back behind her to see Viola standing behind her. She patted the girl's hand and leaned into her touch, looking back at the boy. "No, you should know I only have fists for you." She smiled faintly and nodded at the boy.
"Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. But the date was changed, because the Great Hall was being renovated."
Oh. "Ah, I see. Cool." She shrugged. "Gives me time to pick a costume. Oh, by the way... Do you want to go, Vi?" She glanced back once again, raising an eyebrow at her girlfriend.

Viola smiled at Elena's pun. "No, you should know I only have fists for you." The reminded brought back memories of their first meeting. A not so pleasant cat fight, that ironically, brought them closer together. "Of course. My bad. I shouldn't forget. I had nightmares about that right hook."
"Do you want to go, Vi?"
"Actually, I was just about to ask you the same thing." She leaned closer to Elena. "So, I guess, yes. If you stop beating up on the other students." She examined the other student closely. He didn't even seem to be paying attention to anything they were saying. "Um, is your friend all right, E? Care to introduce us?"
