Xing ran blindly into the kitchen, closing the door behind him. He leaned against it, breathing hard, eyes closed. First day of school and already he had run away from all the other students. His shyness was very troublesome to him, but he couldn't control it. It wasn't his fault he blushed at every attempt anyone made to talk to him, not his fault for being unable to look into the others eyes, for speaking so quietly the other could not hear him.
He opened his eyes and nearly screamed. There were ugly little people all over the place. The whole kitchen was swarming with them. All of them were turned toward the unfortunate boy that had stumbled in. Xing, wide eyed, scaled against the wall, toward a dark corner where he curled into a ball, his knees up to his chin. His brown eyes surveyed the room. There were so many of those ugly beings in that room. Some had returned to what they were doing, whilst others were still looking at the newcomer.
One particular being had sneaked beside Xing, tapping him on the knee. Xing jumped up almost straight away, covering his mouth to stop the urge to scream. "It's alright. We don't bite." Xing looked down at the thing in horror. It was barely up to his knee. He realised it was a female from the voice. He could barely get his mouth working to form the words "W-What are you?" He couldn't believe how rude he sounded, but all the thing did was chuckle.
"We're House Elves, but we work here, in the kitchen. Her voice was a bit croaky, but nonetheless clear. He crouched down again, examining the House Elf. He figured she wasn't that ugly. "Umm, sorry for sounding a bit rude. I was never taught about House Elves... Uhh... You could go back to work now. I'm just going to stay here..." He was blushing, embarrassed that he was staring at the Elf.
"Okay then. Suit yourself. If you need anything ask me. I'm Delina by the way. She held her tiny hand out, to which Xing gave his pinky finger for her to shake. "Umm, I'm Xing." He squeaked, hoping they didn't hear it. He felt relieved when Delina smiled at him, turning to return back to her work. Xing stayed in the corner, observing the other Elves before dozing off.

Rose was carrying more than her normal load of books from the library, which is where she had been all day trying to find any new spells she could learn. Most of her book were in her bag but there were 3 or 4 that she was carrying. She was in the library all day and had missed lunch and dinner and her stomach was much into that idea. She stumbled into the kitchen, were a bunch of house elf's were walking about. She had a house of her own back at home, so she was familiar with them. One of the house elf's walk up to her. Hi there. said the small elf said. I missed dinner and was wondering if there anything I could grab to eat. Rose asked the elf. The elf smiled up at her and nodded. Of course It'll be just a moment. said the elf running off to cook something. Rose looked around and spotted a cute Ravenclaw boy over in the corner, asleep. He was kind of cute, she thought to herself. He probably came in here to escape to crowded corridors, they can get pretty busy sometimes. The books were starting to hurt her shoulder. So she set them down before sliding down against the wall, not far from him.

Xing was awaken by the sound of voices. He opened his eyes the tiniest bit and peered out of them. There was a red haired girl, talking to Delina. He thought she was kind of pretty, for a non-asian. He pretended he was still sleeping as the girl settled down not that far from him. He was too shy to speak to anyone else. Even talking to Delina would still make him uncomfortable. He looked at Rose from under his eyelashes. His sitting position was getting painful, but he didn't want to attract any unwanted attention to himself. He let himself slide sideways, slumping onto the floor, eyes shut, hoping the girl wouldn't do anything to him.

Rose looked over at the boy, wishing he would wake so she had someone to talk to while she waited for her food, but she wasn't about to do that because she was bored and wanted to make a new friend. She dug through bag and pulled out a book she had been working on back at the library. She didn't normally read this much, truthfully she would have rather spent the hole day outside, laughing with friend than to be stuck in the library. She glanced at the boy one more time before turning to her book. Rose would glance up from her book to watch the elf's everyone once in a while when she got bored, but other than that she kept reading.

Xing decided the girl was harmless enough. At least, he hoped so. He sat up, yawning and stretching, then rubbing his eyes sleepily. He stared at the girl, pretending to be in shock. He was a pretty good actor. The girl was reading and would probably look up at any second. He kept rubbing at his eye, he really was sleepy. He also didn't know how to start a conversation, not that he really wanted to. He slowly inched away from the girl, hoping she wouldn't notice.

Rose glanced up and saw that the boy had wakened. She gave him a small smile hoping it was a little friendly. She marked her page and set it down. Hi. Sorry if I startle you I am just waiting for some food. I am Rose. Rose wasn't to good making the best of conversation. She usually met her friend through her clumsy feet or being partnered up in class. She hoped that she didn't scare the boy away, he looked like a nice fellow. She away pretending to see if her food arrived, trying to make things a little less tense. So, uh, what's your name? Rose asked now a little nervous. The thoughts that ran through her mind made her more nervous.

Xing smiled a little at Rose, blushing the whole time. He had been hoping a lot that day, but he also hoped she didn't see the redness. "Uhm...I'm Xing." He whispered, unable to make his voice go any higher. He wasn't sure if he should tell her why he was in there. He found it better if she didn't know the truth. He wasn't a great conversation starter, so he figured Rose could say something else. He played around with his hair, styling it over and over.

Rose could tell the he was shy, but she thought he was cute playing with his hair. Rose couldn't help, her red hair probably help it stand out. Such a prefect time to have red hair she thought sarcastically to herself. She couldn't just sit there, or run now he was talking to her. She wished she was better at knowing the right thing to say, her friend Addison was always usually the one talking while she stayed quiet.
So how do you like Hogwarts so far? She asked the first question that came to her mind but it was a really suckish topic and kick herself mentally for bring it up. She loved Howarts but that could be that she had family she didn't like. The poor boy probably missed his family and she had to bring it up. She felt bad now.

Xing stopped playing with his hair and looked at Rose. He hadn't really thought about how much he liked Hogwarts. He sort of thought the place itself was a bit scary. "Well... I already got lost in this place a couple of times... And it's a bit... Creepy too. I wish I could have brought Maomao with me." He looked down at the floor and shifted his position. It was uncomfortable sitting in the same position all the time. He figured that she would have no idea what he was talking about. "Err... Maomao is my kitten..." He added lamely.

Rose smiled at him. She was glad she wasn't the only one who got lost in this Castle. She got lost her first day of class, lucky the teacher didn't see her come in or she might have gotten into trouble and she hated being in trouble. I got lost my first day of class. On my favorite subject to. It was embarrassed but no one seemed to notice. I can see how things can get creepy. But after living in a house like mind I've kind of learned to deal with it. She loved animals she probably would've been upset to if she couldn't bring her owl Mid-night, she was practically her only friend at home. Why couldn't you bring your kitty? I thought it was kind of a must to bring an animal of some sort. Rose asked sweetly. She hoped she didn't sound to dorky asking such a silly question, which she does do from time to time.

"Oh, well..." He had to think for a moment. "Maomao is a family pet... I couldn't take him even if I wanted to. My parents would like him to be around... To catch mice. I miss him. A lot. I had to get a freaky looking owl instead." His shyness was visibly disappearing. He was getting more confident with what he was saying. Clearly, he was getting more comfortable around Rose. "Oh, do you have any pets?"

Yeah mid-night, my owl, she acts more like a human than an animal though. She was mad at me when I didn't let her go to bed with me when we first got here. Of course she really the only friend I had before I started at Hogwarts I mean I had a friend, but I didn't see her that often She explained. She loved her bird, of course it was a little weird looking as baby but now that its older it had all its feathers, which mostly b a jet black, and its head looked like it fits. She smiled at Xing, he seemed to be a little more open now. What are your hobbies? Rose said trying to stay calm, but true be told making new friends excited her. And sometimes she was childish, but she kept telling herself that she needed to stay calm.

Xing smiled back at Rose. He was starting to think that she was very nice. "Your owl wanted to sleep in your bed?" He laughed. He never knew an owl would sleep outside of its cage, especially in a bed. "I don't have any friends back at home." He said, fiddling with his hair again.
"What are your hobbies?" She asked him. He blushed at that. "I... Well... I like to sing and dance. When no one is around. I also read... Books. He watched as Delina came over and placed a plate of food in front of Rose, winking at Xing and walked away, leaving Xing gaping. He was shocked by that sudden movement and blinked his eyes a few times, thinking he was seeing things. "Anyways." He said, turning his attention back to Rose. "What do you like to do in your spare time? Oh, and you should eat that." He gestured towards the plate of food. It made his stomach grumble as he realised he hadn't eaten yet.

Rose looked down at her plate and smiled and took a bite. Good, yes, the house elf's knew how to make food taste just right. She thought about her friend from home. Tiny little house elf, that she freed, but still works for her. She wore the cutest little dresses and the cute slippers to match it. To tell you truth my only other friend it a house elf when I leave Hogwarts. Well usually I like making to potions and hang out with my friend Addison, but lately I've been trying to get better and all of my classes and go further than the class its self. She said picking at her food. It was a lot of food not sure if she could finish it all. Would you like some. They seem to have brought me a little much. Rose said smiling up at him.

Xing stared hungrily at the food sitting in front of Rose. His stomach grumbled again, louder than before and he realised he was drooling a little. Wiping it off before anyone noticed, he looked back at Rose while she talked. He looked around the kitchen, looking for a free elf when Rose asked him if he wanted some of the food. He was a bit shocked by the suggestion. He had never shared food before, but smiled and nodded at Rose. He wasn't sure if he should pick pieces off to eat.
The food looked a bit like pancakes, except it looked like it had little red wings, the kind from bats. Xing took a small piece with a wing sticking out, watching, horrified as the bat flapped around wildly. He nearly dropped it. He didn't notice it had wings earlier, but now the flailing wing made him have second thoughts about sharing the food. The wing stopped flapping and he quickly took a nibble of it, sending it into a spazz-attack again.
The... Thing actually tasted nice. Like strawberries and cream, but at the same time, it smelt of rain. Xing liked the smell of rain, so he liked the smell of the strawberries and cream winged pancake. Oh, and the taste of course.
Xing took a bigger bite when it stopped moving around. He figured the wings were coated with a spell to make it flutter about, but as soon as you bit it off, the spell would break and the piece wouldn't jiggle around in the stomach. "What is it anyways?" He asked between bites.
After he finished eating, he patted his hands together, shaking the crumbs off. "We should go elsewhere. You could drop off those books. They seem heavy. Although, it is after dinner, probably midnight by now." He had lost track of how much time they had spent in that kitchen, talking about themselves. He laughed at the thought. He hadn't had such a long conversation in such a long time.
