An hour before her first class was due to arrive, Professor Apharius started setting up the room for today's activity: actually reading tea leaves.
Waving her wand, she conjured a long table that sat perpendicular to the seats her students sat in. Another wave, and a very pretty, pastel blue tablecloth appeared on the table. She then went to the shelves behind her seat at the front of the room and started taking down several plain white teacups and set them around the edge of the table.
Professor Apharius walked into her office through a side door of the classroom, and walked purposefully over to the storage cabinet to the left of her desk (facing into the room). Pulling out several bags of tea leaves, she enchanted two tall teapots to follow her back to the classroom.
Conjuring several small dishes on the table, she took each bag and poured enough to fill each bowl. Using her wand, she sent the bags back into the cabinet in her office, then proceeded to the sink on the other side of the room from the office door and filled the teapots with water. Professor Apharius, followed still by the pots, glided back to her table that was technically her "desk" and took out a second burner from the shelf hidden underneath by the white tablecloth and set it on top of the table. Turning them on with magic, she had the teapots set themselves on the racks above the flames, heating the water inside. She then conjured spoons next to the bowls containing tea, as well as putting two spoons on each table.
She reached into a pocket in her skirt and pulled out the little tags she made the night before (in very beautiful writing). With a flick of her hand, the tags paired themselves up with their corresponding type of tea. Finally, to make things easier for the students, she changed the beanbag chairs into padded regular chairs and raised the round tables that dotted the room by a few inches.
At last, her students started arriving and paused briefly when they saw the changes in the room before taking their seats.
"Welcome to your first Divination activity, first years!!!!" Professor Apharius said eagerly. "As you can see, we will be reading tea leaves today. I would like you to pair up, then come down to the table and pick up a cup and choose a flavor of tea that is to your liking. We have: Jasmine, Lemon, Earl Grey, Chamomile, Green Tea, Oolong tea, Black tea, White tea, and several other herbal teas for you to choose from. I would caution you to only use ONE spoonful, as they are quite potent; I will also have sugar and milk available for those who ask for it.
Once you are set with your tea, feel free to socialize while you drink. When you get down to the bottom of the liquid, swish it around three times, then turn the cup over on it's saucer and wait for it to drain. When it does, I'd like you to trade cups with your partner and use the guide in the back of your textbooks to interpret the symbols you see. I will be walking around to see your progress and to help you if needs be. You may begin."
