Professor Apharius swept into the classroom in her usual manner, greeting her students warmly.
“Today, class, we will be exploring a personal aspect of divination: Numerology,” and with a wave of her wand, the chalk wrote the topic on the board. Underneath the title, the chalk then wrote the numbers 1-9 before dropping back down onto the tray.
Turning to face the class, she asked, “What is the definition of numerology?” A very eager Hufflepuff girl raised her hand. “Is that where there’s a number that represents your name?”
“Very good; five points to Hufflepuff. Does anyone know how we determine what number represents our name?” she looked around expectantly, but when no one raised their hand, she continued with the lesson:
“In order to determine your personal number, at least a general sense, you must take the letters in your full name and assign a number to it according to this chart,” and the chalk once again wrote on the board, only this time it placed each letter of the alphabet under each of the numbers until the board looked like this:

“Please copy this down in your notes, for you will need it for the activity. There will be extra credit, which I will explain next time. For homework, I would like you to read the chapter on Numerology in your guidebook. When you have finished copying this chart down, you are free to leave,” Professor Apharius told the class. She then left the room and entered her office.
