Gage sighed as she moved from room to room, checking on each patient one by one. Today had been a difficult day. Apparently, the dead body of Deliah Gloryflower had been found mutilated, and the Auror in her was itching to leave this place and go to investigate the mystery. Delilah had been a close acquaintance, if not a friend, to Gage from when they were both Gryffindors together at Hogwarts.
Still, she reminded herself, she'd become a Healer for a reason, and it wouldn't do to blow that now, just because she wanted to solve some mystery. Of course, she would be asking Lord Dumbledore at the next meeting if he had any new information about it. She had a right to know, didn't she? As she came to the next door on her list, she was surprised to note that it was an Auror. Maybe she could get some info out of him? Smiling at her deviousness, Gage knocked once and then opened the door.

Christian Ravensdale drummed his fingers on the wall, sighing in boredom. When was this healer going to finish looking over this dead body? It was precisely that, a dead body. It didn't need to be handled with that much care. This was why he was Head Auror, not a healer. Not that he didn't have respect for them, it just wasn't something he wanted to stake his life on. He looked down at Deliah Gloryflower's file and frowned. Poor girl. Not 6 years out of Hogwarts and she was already dead. Attacked.
He scoffed and closed the file with a sharp "snap". Despicable is what it was. Why would lowlifes choose to attack someone unarmed and innocent? He sighed in frustration and stood up, hearing the door next to him open at the same time. Out walked this woman and his eyes widened slightly. She was...gorgeous. For a moment, he forgot what he was there for and gave her a polite smile. Focus, Christian, it won't do you any good to ogle someone, especially now. He cleared his throat and held out his hand for her to shake. "Good morning, I'm Christian Ravensdale. I'm Head Auror. I uh...What have you found out so far?"

Gage glanced down at her file for a second, unsure for a moment if she'd gotten to the right place. Sure enough, she'd accidentally (pfft) made her way to the autopsy room, rather than the wounded Auror she was supposed to be looking for. Still, this was exactly the kind of opportunity she'd been hoping for. Right before her was a man, probably around the same age as her, who she knew vaguely as the new Head Auror, one of the youngest to reach that position in history. If anyone would know information, it would be him.
"Good morning, I'm Christian Ravensdale. I'm Head Auror. I uh...What have you found out so far?"
Quickly pushing past Christian and his outstretched hand, Gage moved to the body of Delilah Gloryflower. It was even more grotesque than she'd heard. Luckily, years of dealing with horrifying injuries and deaths prepared her for what was before her. "What we have here, Mr. Ravensdale, is a woman that died fighting for what she believed in. The way her hand is curled indicates she died holding her wand, so she fought back at least." Gage silently congratulated Delilah on not being a pathetic victim and taking what was coming to her, but fighting back. She hoped one of her more nasty curses had hit the sorry bastard responsible. "As to the cause of death, it seems that she died of trauma. Her injuries are consistent with torture, though not with Cruciatus. It is far more likely that we have a truly sick son of a bitch on our hands with this guy. Have any of your Aurors seen anything like this before?" Gage turned to face Christian.
So far, she'd been all business, but now that she was looking at him, she thought him attractive. Maybe she'd ask him for a Butterbeer on her break or something. Still, she had a job to do. Nevermind that she wasn't technically supposed to be involved, she was sure she could work something out to make it alright. If not, she'd do it anyway. That was just how she was.

Interesting...He looked down at Deliah's mangled body and then back at the file. That bit about her being unarmed needed to be fixed. He made a quick mark and then looked at the Healer. Don't flirt, don't flirt. You're on duty. Focus.
"We have...I believe this is the work of Antonin Dolohov. Only he could stoop this low." He sighed in disgust and rolled his eyes, putting the file down to cross his arms. His lip curled up and he shook his head. "We've been chasing him for eight months now. This makes his fifth victim. No doubt he's probably proud of himself. Sick bastard..." He looked down at Deliah again, unfolding his arms to pull the white sheet over her head once more. He couldn't bear to look at such destruction anymore.
Christian smiled politely again at her and walked over to the sink to rinse off his hands. "So, uh...I don't think I caught your name." He turned to face her and wiped his hands on a towel, awaiting her answer.

Antonin Dolohov. The bastard. In the last month before she left the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, there had already been whispers of his involvement in the dark arts and a few dozen incidents of muggle abuse. No one had been killed at that point. But apparently, it had only been a matter of time. Fifth victim...Gage shook her head. Dolohov was filth.
Gage sighed sadly. She wished she could just leave and hunt the bastard down, but there was so much more good she could do here. She had to stay. Besides, Lord Dumbledore needed her here. He'd placed her here so that she could get different sources of information than being an Auror could afford. He had already had plenty of Aurors within the order.
"So, uh...I don't think I caught your name."
Gage smirked, deciding to play coy. "Is there a specific reason you would need my name?" she asked before moving over to the sink as well and washing her hands

"Is there a specific reason you would need my name?"
Aside from the fact that you're gorgeous and I want to know so I can track you down and get you to go out for butterbeer with me...no.
"Yes. I need to gather information on her coroner so that I can come up with the victim's file. Also, when her family comes to identify her, it'd be nice to know who looked over her body so I don't have to drag in a complete stranger to look at it all over again."
He watched her with a smirk, his eyebrow lifted in curiosity. She made him curious. Most of the women he met were meek and frail, almost as if they needed to be constantly taken care of. Not her. She looked as if she could hold her own if need be. This really intrigued him, and he didn't want to just let that go. "Have you been a Healer long?"

Damn. He had a point. Still, she smirked over at him as he asked her about how long she'd been a Healer. "Not long," she answered, "I became an Auror at nineteen, worked there until I was 23, and then I became a healer. So about two years," she responded, moving to the door. She wasn't about to chat him up in the middle of an autopsy room.
She held the door and waited for him to follow her. "As for my name, it's Gage. Gage Carmichael. For your report."

Christian smirked and followed her out, stepping aside so she could close the door. "Interesting. I've been Head Auror since I was 21. Funny, I don't think I ever saw you there." He eyed her quickly. It wasn't that he didn't believe her, he just couldn't believe that he'd let such a beautiful woman slip past his fingers without even realizing she was there.

"It's not my fault you've no observation skills. Honestly, how did you manage to make Head Auror?" she said, only half-teasing. She was a little offended that he hadn't ever noticed her. She knew she had been quite immersed in work, but her accolades alone ought to have made her worthy of someone's notice, even someone in another squad.
She whirled around. "Do you need anything else, Mr. Ravensdale?"

This was it. She had opened a door and he was going to walk through it. "Yes. I do actually." He smiled warmly at her, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms. "Are you free tomorrow night? If you are, we could go out and grab some butterbeer."

Gage stared at him, her eyes betraying her surprise. As a Gryffindor, she'd always been very expressive of her emotions. As an Auror, she'd learned to control that. But right then? She was like a schoolgirl in Hogwarts all over again.
"I...sure. I suppose it couldn't hurt," she said, tucking a strand of her blonde-brown hair behind her ear. "Where do you want to meet? Although, I do have to work until 10 PM. Emergencies don't stop for social calls."

Christian blinked when she looked taken aback and his heart sunk slightly. Had he overstepped a line? That's just great. The one time I think I get it right, and--
"I...sure. I suppose it couldn't hurt. Where do you want to meet? Although, I do have to work until 10 PM. Emergencies don't stop for social calls."
Score! Christian cheered internally and smiled. She was cute off-guard. He shrugged and looked up at her to meet her gaze. "That's fine, I don't get off till ten either. I have to make sure everyone leaves safely. Want to just wait here and I'll pick you up?" He stepped towards her, closing off the distance and looked into her eyes playfully. One of his eyebrows arched up and the corner of his lips raised in a goofy crooked smile as he waited for her answer. He wasn't normally this forward, but something about her made him want to be. She didn't seem like the type of girl who would just let things slide by, and he liked that.

Gage found she rather liked the crooked smirk that graced Christian's lips. Slowly, her own lips upturned into a familiar smirk. "That would be fine, Mr. Ravensdale," she said. She slipped away, turning gracefully and still smirking. "I'll see you tomorrow, then."
With that, she began moving in the direction of the Nurse's Station so she could inform everyone of the fact that she had looked at Delilah's body and there would be no need for any of the others to bother. She made sure to give her hips an appropriate swing, just to torture the Head Auror one last time.

Christian watched her leave, his mouth hung slightly open. His knees buckled slightly and he caught himself, clearing his throat. The file in his hands suddenly appeared to have added about 100 pounds and he looked down. Oh, right. The case. He glanced at her once again and then walked off to his office, trying to clear his mind and refocus on work once again.
