Following are the rules for Role-playing on the site. Please read these and follow them as perfectly as you can. Also, please note that these rules are subject to change, depending on how things go during the creation of this place.
I. Original Student Characters
-Students must start in their first year and be sorted by our Sorting Hat; promotion is achieved through posting. The grade scale is as follows:
*First Year: 0-100 Posts
*Second Year: 101-200 Posts
*Third Year: 201-300 Posts
*Fourth Year: 301-400
*Fifth Year: 401-500
*Sixth Year: 501-600
*Seventh Year: 601-700
-Prefects and Head Boy/Girl Positions are decided in a poll held at the beginning of a term (Which is in the summer); whichever characters are voted for the most get those positions. Nominations, however, are to be applied for by interested and qualified persons.
-Student characters cannot be vampires, werewolves or other such half-breeds without getting permission from the Admins. Your story has to be HELLA good to get this privilege.
-Animagi: Must pass a Transfiguration theory test prior to consideration and your animal has to suit you. Also, you must be third year or above.
-Strengths and Weaknesses: Your character will have strengths and weaknesses in classes; you are not expected to know this prior to doing lessons, but will be decided after your first term by the professors that have taught you.
-Quidditch Tryouts: Obviously, we can’t put students literally on a broom and have them duke it out. Thus, we have decided that Quidditch tryouts will be done in an RP competition. The ones who do the best are picked as Quidditch players.
-Lessons: You are only required to take two lessons; any more than that is optional, but will help earn your House points and get your post count up much faster, so take advantage of them.
-OWL’s and NEWT’s are going to be actual tests given to qualified (fifth through seventh year) students. If you get perfect scores on everything, be warned that admins and teachers will assume you cheated; nobody is perfect at everything. Be realistic.
-You will have a career meeting in your fifth year to discuss options for your character’s future.
-Must be within the proper timeline. You can’t have Harry Potter and Hermione Granger in an RP that takes place before they were born.
-You can play any of the canon characters, but only one player can be responsible for that canon character. If there is more than one applicant for a canon character, then there will be a face-off, overseen by the moderators, between the players to see who has the character down the best.
-Face claim MUST look like the characters are described, but do not necessarily have to be the same ones from the movie. In fact, I’d prefer them to be different.
-A list of claimed and unclaimed canon characters will be available, so look at that before applying for one.
III. Original Adult Characters
-Life After School: Yes, there is one. After your character has made 700 posts, that character has graduated. You will have a career meeting with your HoH in your fifth year prior to going into OWL’s and NEWT’s. If you’d like for your character to get that job, please take the proper OWL’s and NEWT’s. Requirements for career positions are listed in the Career Planning forum. If you do not wish to get a specific career, feel free to join the Order of the Phoenix l or the Deatheaters and participate in clan battles held periodically through the year.
-Straight to the Point: You have the option of immediately starting as an adult witch or wizard. This includes any teaching positions, healer positions, and ministry positions and positions in the Order or the Deatheaters. The Minster of Magic, however, will be an NPC until such a time as a proper election can be held. Be advised, however, that we have a higher standard for our adult characters and expect them to be more advanced than our students. It is much harder to get accepted without starting out young.
IV: Multiple Characters
-In order to be CONSIDERED for an alternate character, you have to be VERY active on the site and must maintain ALL characters. If one character drops below par, they are subject to deletion. Maximum number is three, and that is only for those who are Fourth year and above and are active on the site.
-All posts must be in third person, past tense. An example:
Rylee Goldshanks yawned widely as she stepped out of the shower. She put on her robes then moved downstairs to the Hufflepuff Common room. It seemed deserted. Most of the other students were out that day, having a visit at Hogsmeade, but Rylee had stayed behind in order to sleep in. "Today is going to be a good day," she said, happily.
-PLEASE make an effort to spell correctly and use correct grammar. Of course we don't expect it to be perfect, but we DO want it to be readable and not too difficult to handle.
-You cannot use electrical devices in the Wizarding World. There is a place on the site for you to be in Muggle London if you so wish, but that is the only time such devices can be used. And again, be realistic. If you're a pureblooded wizard, you aren't likely to be good at using muggle technology.
-FURTHER, this takes place in the 70's. They did not have all of the same technologies as we have now, so make sure you think things through before using them in Muggle London.
-Romance is fun. I love it. So feel free to get in any kind of relationships or break ups as you see fit for your character. Furthermore, gender doesn't matter. Go to town! BUT, keep in mind what age-group you're writing for. NC-17 stuff needs to be confined to NC-17 places.
-All posts are real-time. Thus, you cannot be in two places at once unless they are common rooms/dorms/classes.
