Alec walked in after Rylee, looking around. He crinkled his nose in disgust, his high status kicking in. This was so dusty and dirty, how the hell did Rylee expect him to sit in here? Still... He sighed softly to himself as she repaired her own chair and shrugged to himself, rolling his eyes. He pushed aside his discomfort and plopped down in the chair, looking up at her. He propped his feet up on the seat of the desk when he noticed she wasn't taking it and leaned back, extending his arms behind him to rest his head on them. He smiled softly at her, studying her quickly.
"So whatcha wanna talk about?"
Alec shrugged and looked around. "Well, we can talk about the filthy disposition of this classroom you've chosen or we can talk more about you since I hardly know anything other than you want to be a spy." Truthfully, he was amazed by this. He still didn't know what he wanted to do once he left Hogwarts and that deeply bothered him.

"Well, we can talk about the filthy disposition of this classroom you've chosen or we can talk more about you since I hardly know anything other than you want to be a spy."
Rylee rolled her eyes, leaning back on her arms on the desk. "What are you talking about? I literally gave you my entire life's story. What else do you want to hear? How I was born? My first lost tooth? My first incident of accidental magic? Besides, I know even less about you. You can't expect me to keep on talking about such mundane things as myself."
Really, Rylee's life was perfectly average. The only thing that wasn't normal was the way her mother died, and how she couldn't remember it. That was it. Alec seemed to be battling some other demons though. She would much rather hear about those than talk about anything from her life. She really was a boring subject.
Maybe, later, she'd go out and do something crazy, just to have a story to tell. But for now? She just wanted to hear Alec's.

Alec rolled his eyes. Rylee, mundane? Please. There was nothing mundane about her freaky see-through powers. He opened his mouth to tell her so then stopped midway. No, he wasn't going to make himself look weak. He wouldn't let her see she had the advantage. Letting silence befall them, he looked around the classroom. Disgusting. He could practically see tumbleweeds of dust rolling around. Faint music suddenly reached his ear, making him perk up. Oh, right. The ball. He'd completely forgotten. He glanced over at Rylee, biting his tongue. He wanted to ask her to go. He did. He was just wondering how he'd bring it up without seeming needy.
I think I've got it. "Hey, how about instead we go to the ball? It'd beat sitting around in this nasty forgotten wasteland. And besides, you look rather bored." He shrugged, fighting off an insult that he felt come on. She didn't need or deserve it. Or at least, not today.

"Aww...are you asking me out? Let me just go and get my costume ready and I'll meet you there. It's pretty fantastic," Rylee said, and then, without waiting for a response, she hopped off of the desk and tore out of the room, flinging open the door and running down the stairs to get to the Hufflepuff dorms, where her rather astonishingly bright costume was waiting for her.
She knew that Alec would probably not want to speak to her once he saw her in her costume. But she didn't care about that. When had she ever cared that he didn't want to be seen in public with her? She was beginning to live to embarrass the Slytherin. It was too much fun. So, why would her costume be any different?

"What? No, I wasn't--asking you out..."
He sighed, seeing the girl run out of the room before he could finish his objection. He didn't ask her out...did he? Oh well. What did it really matter? It was just a silly dance. He walked out of the classroom, making a quick detour to his common room to go to change. He wasn't expecting to use this costume, seeing as how it was "childish and ridiculous" according to his parents. However, they weren't around, were they?
A smile crossed Alec's face and he stepped out of the common room, smoothing out his leather cloak. As he made his way up the stairs to go to the Great Hall, he wondered what Rylee was going to go as. Hopefully it wasn't embarrassing...
