This is the lawn, which leads out of the castle to both Hogsmeade and to Hagrid's Hut.

Night Grey stepped slowly down the steps to the castle before smoothly stepping onto the rocky path. Her short hair was rustled by a soothing breeze. She began to hum softly to herself before slowly mouthing words that would soon become a song. "I'm as mild and as meek as a mouse When I hear a command I obey. But I know of a spot in my house where no one can stand in my way."
She walked forward and let her voice flow over the wind as she began to walk at a brisker pace. She must look like an idiot she though. However when she sang she was at peace for once. These large grounds and imposing castle always made the small girl nervous. However she just opened her self and sang a bit louder. "In my own little corner in my own little chair I can be whatever I want to be. On the wings of my fancy I can fly anywhere and the world will open its arms to me."
She looked up at the sky and flung her arms out spinning slightly before laughing and falling into the grass on her back looking up at the clear blue skies. It never occurred to her that anyone might see her moment of silliness. However she didn't particularly care. (OOC: Song - In my own little corner. Music was a lovely thing, Lenne mused as she stepped gingerly out onto the lawns of Hogwarts. She could hear music all around her; the rustle of the wind through the trees, she song of birds as they flitted about the sky, the sound of small creatures frolicking in the grass...and something else. A human song.
Tilting her head, Lenne followed the sound to find a smaller girl spinning and singing and just being happy.
Stepping closer to the girl, who she noted was in Slytherin, she felt a demure smile cross her face. "Hello," she said, her own voice sounding musical despite the fact that she wasn't singing. She took great pride in her voice. Aunt Rowan always told her she would be able to do great, and terrible, things with a voice like that.

Night was humming the next line when she heard the most wonderful voice. She let loose a small sigh of pleasure before sitting up. Surrounded by the grass she looked like a wood nymph as she sat up slowly. She started rising using her hips causing her back to arch and gracefully pull up her chest and head which, when she hit a sitting position, turned to the source of the melodious voice.
Her glasses were on the tip of her nose as Night gazed up, chocolate eyes taking in the slightly blurry sight before her. Leaves and bits of flowers were intertwined in her short pixie cut brown hair. She stood slowly and gave a genial smile. "Why, hello." Her voice was a soft and deep alto.

"What song was that? The one you were just singing?" she asked, tilting her head quizzically at the form before her.
Lenne had a passion for music; all kinds of music. It helped a person achieve dreams. And so naturally, she felt a desire to know all songs she could possibly know. The one she had just heard had been wonderful. Where most people would ask a person for her name, Lenne's only concern seemed to be the music that one could create. Who cared about something as silly as names?
She firmly believed one could know a person completely, simply by knowing the music they made or listened to. And everything was music, even things that didn't necessarily sound good. Lenne was dimly aware that she was an oddity; she never cared, because as long as she had music and dreams, she had everything she needed.

Night smiled and shook the leaves from her hair as she looked upon the other female. "Oh yes. That was me. I hope I didn't disturb you." A slight blush covered her cheeks as she realized she was heard. "The song's from Cinderella. 'My own little corner.' Tis personal favorite of mine."
She walked forward as if on air. Her small feet looked to barely if ever touch the ground. A slight breeze dislodged a few flowers from her hair. Night stood before Lenne with the most curious look on her petite features, as if she were a new kind of woman that she had never seen before. "Do you sing?"

Olivia sighed as she stepped out of the castle, walking slowly around the lawn. She looked up at the sky, squinting her blue eyes at the bright sun. The wind blew around her gently, caressing her hair. She smiled, looking away from the sun and closed her eyes, letting herself be embraced by the breeze. She could hear whisperings, soft callings being carried in the wind. And a song...There was a song... Olivia blinked her eyes open and looked towards the direction of the sound and saw that there were two girls standing there, one she recognized from her class, and a Slytherin. She hesitated, then walked over, questioning herself. This was so out of character for her. She never talked to anyone new, but...for some reason, today, she just wanted to be included in something. She took in a deep breath, preparing herself, smiling. "Hi...Wh-What's up?" She let out the breath she was holding, internally cheering for herself. She'd actually talked to someone without fainting! Accomplishment number one, done.

"Do you sing?"
"Everyone sings," Lenne answered cryptically, glancing all around, "Each creature has its own distinct sound, a rhythm to their life. Can't you hear it?"
Suddenly, another student, a fellow Ravenclaw, with some of the loveliest blue eyes that Lenne had ever seen, approached them and bashfully stated, "Hi...Wh-What's up?"
Smiling gently at the other to perhaps put her at ease, Lenne said, "Hello. Do you like to sing?" she asked, tucking a strand of her hair behind one of her ears. The day was shaping up to be a lovely one, but then again, wasn't every day wonderful? Well, Lenne believed so. Especially if one dreamed it to be.

Night gave a slow nod before looking up to the sky, "Some songs are silent. The aura itself is a medley of sounds and emotions. The raw unfiltered way humans tell what they are and can do with out saying a word." She breathed a sigh and looked back to Leene and smiled. "I wonder... I would love to hear your song first hand. I bet it's beautiful"
"Hi...Wh-What's up?"
Night turned to look in the direction of the new voice. A cute Ravenclaw girl was approaching. She was pleased to be meeting so many people in one day.
"Hello. Do you like to sing?"
Night laughed softly, "Of course she must. Just listen to her voice. It is sweet don't you agree?"
She looked up and then to her watch, she was late for class. "Bugger...! I'm late for class! I'll see you girls later!" Night waved a cheery good bye before dashing away.

Gemma Rae stared forlornly at her schedule for what felt like the millionth time, as if looking at it again would suddenly make it show her the proper way to get to class. It didn't work.
"Ugh! You're so dumb!" Feeling almost close to tears, Rae threw her schedule on the ground, only to watch as it got caught on the wind and began to fly away.
"No! Don't fly away, little schedule! I didn't mean it!" she called, running after it at full speed. Today was not her day. At all. She'd been trying to find her way to all of her classes today, so that on Monday, when her classes started, she wouldn't get lost. So far, she had been right in assuming that she needed to get well-acquainted with the building before trying to navigate her way around, but it had really only made her get frustrated sooner. And now, her schedule was flying away. If she didn't get it soon, she'd be in big-time trouble. Where did one even go to get a replacement schedule if they lost it?
Rae didn't know, but as the schedule continued flying away just out of her reach, she began to realize that she'd have to find out, and soon.

Caitlyn was not very pleased. In fact, she was enraged beyond all words. Of all the stupid Houses, she got stuck with Slytherin and its stupid, stuck-up students and she hated them. Granted, she hated most (all) people, but that didn't exactly make the situation any better. She was all but stomping along the grounds, far enough away from anyone to be any real threat.
"No! Don't fly away, little schedule! I didn't mean it!"
...or so she'd thought.
Raising her eyes to glare at the girl who had intruded upon her alone time, Caitlyn suddenly found herself with a face full of paper. Slightly shocked, she blinked for a minute before peeling it off and holding it at arm's length. It seemed to be a timetable. She stared at it with contempt then turned a distasteful gaze to the other girl.
"I take it this is yours?" she asked, although she didn't particularly care. Anyone stupid enough to let their schedules roam free probably deserved to have to chase after them.

Rae had been following the schedule, tripping every few feet, but still managing to keep some kind of pace with the rude piece of paper, and then, suddenly, it wasn't there. Instead, there was another girl, around her age, holding it. Rae came to a halting stop and stared at the other girl with big tawny eyes, surprised. She then looked at her robes and saw the sign for Slytherin. Gulp. Weren't they the mean ones?
Aunt Rosie had given her a basic explanation of all the Houses in Hogwarts. Gryffindor was the good house, where all the brave people went; Ravenclaw was for the really smart kids. Slytherin was where all the dark witches and wizards went and they were bad. Hufflepuff was...well, it was where everybody else went.
Realizing that she probably looked really vacant in the eyes (it was always really obvious when her mind went off in tangents), Rae shook herself and forced herself back into the present.
"I take it this is yours?"
Rae blinked and then looked up at the other girl, already forgetting her previous thoughts about her being in the mean house or whatever. Rae often did that; forgot what she was thinking. "Uh-huh! Thank you so much for catching it!" she said with a big smile beginning to place itself on her face as she reached out to take it.

"Uh-huh! Thank you so much for catching it!"
Caitlyn scowled. It wasn't like she'd caught it out of the goodness of her heart; it had smacked her in the face. She looked over the girl briefly. Who in the world had hair like that? It was annoyingly bright and vivid. Catching sight of the other girl's robes, Caitlyn nearly rolled her eyes. Gryffindor. Figured.
"My face is glad to have been of assistance," she said dryly, thrusting the paper into the other girl's hand. Really, why were other people so daft? "You should try holding onto your things. It generally keeps them from hitting others."
With that, Caitlyn turned, figuring the conversation was over. She certainly had nothing more to say to that girl, whoever she was. Same year or not, they were as different as different could be. And Caitlyn didn't care to have anything to do with the other students. She didn't need them or want them in her life.
And she didn't want them interfering in it, either. Her problems were her own, no one else's. And it should stay that way.

"My face is glad to have been of assistance. You should try holding onto your things. It generally keeps them from hitting others."
Rae pouted and began following the other girl as she left, jogging to catch up with her long strides so she could walk alongside her. Rae hated being alone above all things, and so she had a tendency to latch herself onto whoever happened to be around at a particular time. "I didn't mean for it to hit you, you know. It was being a very stubborn piece of paper. I was just trying to find my away around you see and..."
Rae stumbled a bit on a rabbit hole, and nearly lost her schedule again, but she scrambled and managed to latch onto it, thanking her lucky stars. The schedule safely in hand, she moved to catch up to the other girl again. "So, what's your name? I'm Gemma, but most people just call me Gems, or Rae. Rae is my middle name, you see. It sounds a lot less old-fashioned than Gemma, don't you think? Gemma is such an old name. Anyhow, what's your name again? Did I already ask that?"
Rae frowned, losing herself in her thoughts again, but she kept her stride with the Slytherin girl miraculously, her rumpled schedule pressed close to her chest and any plans of trying to find her way around lost again in the excitement of meeting someone new.

"I didn't mean for it to hit you, you know. It was being a very stubborn piece of paper. I was just trying to find my away around you see and..."
Caitlyn scowled again. Was the girl actually following her? Gryffindors were even dumber than the other Slytherins had claimed. Couldn't she see that Caitlyn wanted nothing to do with her and her stupid piece of paper?
"So, what's your name? I'm Gemma, but most people just call me Gems, or Rae. Rae is my middle name, you see. It sounds a lot less old-fashioned than Gemma, don't you think? Gemma is such an old name. Anyhow, what's your name again? Did I already ask that?"
Caitlyn was developing a twitch quite rapidly. Something about this girl's mere presence grated on her last nerves, and she couldn't quite place it. Even aside from her ditziness and bright colors and general annoyance, Caitlyn was sure that there was more about her to be hated.
"Caitlyn. You can call me Caitlyn. Don't you have a class to be finding?"
After all, how else did one lose their schedule? Even then, it was still pretty stupid of them. But Caitlyn imagined even a girl this seemingly idiotic wouldn't just be walking around and flinging her schedule about for the fun of it. Of course, perhaps she was underestimating human stupidity. Usually when things seemed like they couldn't get any worse, they did, after all.
Like when she'd thought getting put into Slytherin was the worst. Or getting hit in the face with some random girl's schedule was the worst. Now, she was pretty sure that being followed by said girl, who happened to be a clumsy, bumbling Gryffindor, was the worst. And only time could prove her wrong yet again.
