Welcome to Hogwart's Library. Here you'll find almost every single book you're looking for, and maybe some you're not! Sit back, enjoy, and relax. This, however, is the Restricted Section. No one but professors and other staff allowed. If caught, it means detention, and possibly worse. Best not to risk it.

Daniel Flume looked around the library, mesmerized by the books. He'd been in here before but it still amazed him how many books there were really. It still made him feel awe. He walked in deeper, picking out a few books then smiled softly to himself. He sat down in a plush chair, setting his books down next to him on the floor. Picking one up, he flipped it open and began reading about the aerodynamics of brooms and their uses in the wizardry world. He hummed softly to himself as he read, drumming his fingers on the cover. His blue eyes flitted back and forth, scanning over the words rapidly. He smiled softly to himself as he filled his head with knowledge, unaware of the brunette, tan girl that walked into the library.

Addison walked into the library, sighing as she picked up the book she needed, not that she disliked books, she would rather read in her spare time and not because of a homework assignment, but oh well. She looked around for a place to sit, noticing a spot open next to a brunette. She walked over and sat down, looking over at the boy, he seemed to be entertained by a broom book, well that wasn't typical. Addison glanced down at his robes, he was a Ravenclaw, she nodded to herself, now it made more sense. She turned back to her book, not wanting to seem like a creep, after reading half a page she closed it, potions had to be the most boring thing to study, ever. She turned to the boy again, "Hi there." Addison smiled at him, hoping he wouldn't shush her.

Daniel blinked when he heard someone intrude in his thoughts. "Hi there."
He looked up to see a girl sitting next to him. When had she gotten here? Still... He shrugged, fighting off the instinct to shush her. He chided himself in his head immediately then smiled at her politely, shutting his book. "Hello." Eying her quickly, he hid a small smile. She was cute; he'd give her that. Upon further studying, he saw she was a Gryffindor, which truthfully intrigued him. He didn't think he'd ever see one of their lot in the library. He stared at her, blinking when he realized he hadn't followed up with anything. Oops. "Er....How are you?" There. That was good enough for him at that moment.

Addison stared at the boy, his eyes were gorgeous, she would have felt like an idiot, except he hadn't said anything else other than "Hello." She continued to look at him, he was cute, way cute. Addison looked down at her book, fiddling with the edge, was he going to say anything else? Should she talk? She didn't have much time to think about it, as she was about to speak up she heard his voice once more.
"Er....How are you?"
Addison stiffled a giggle and looked up, smiling at the guy, "I'm good, a little bored, but what about you?" Her eyes scanned his face, landing back on his piercing blue eyes.

Daniel glanced down at his book, suddenly nervous. Why was she not leaving? He guessed that was probably a good sign, but he'd never really held a conversation with anyone. He never needed to. He opened his mouth to reply then closed it, attempting to gather his thoughts. Finally he settled with "I'm quite all right, just doing some personal research." He groaned internally, knowing that he was probably going to bore her enough to leave him but...well, the damage was done already. He glanced at her and smiled softly once again out of politeness. She was still there, which was an extremely good sign. He scooted over some so she'd have more room to sit and put his book down. He wouldn't need it. "What brings you to the library today?"

Addison cocked her head to the side, studying the boy, he was so polite, she was probably bugging him but he showed no sign of it. Well he seemed nervous, but that might have been because he was shy, or just because Addison came off as super social and annoying. Addison laughed and answered his question, "I'm terrible at potions and the professor suggested extra studying, but...as you can tell, i'm not really doing any." She looked down at her book and set it on the floor as if to prove her point. She looked up at the boy, realizing she didn't know his name, moving over a bit to get more comfy, she crossed her legs, "I'm Addison by the way." Holding out her hang she grinned at the kid in front of her.

Daniel laughed a little. He understood all too well. Potions were never his thing. He blinked when she extended her hand then took it politely. She intrigued him, that was for sure. Letting go after shaking it for a few seconds, he studied her once again. Something about her struck him speechless, but he smiled, knowing he had to keep up the conversation. He didn't want to let something as pretty as her go. "Daniel. My name's Daniel." There, they were on first name basis. He leaned back in his chair, eying her out of the corner of his eye. Now to keep the conversation rolling...if only he wasn't so terrible at small talk. He scrambled for something to say. "Eh...So--Which is your favorite Quidditch team?"
He wanted to slap himself immediately as soon as he said it. Her favorite Quidditch team? Surely she had one, but he couldn't come up with something better, really? He fought not to roll his eyes and turned his attention on her fully. Oh well, he might as well act interested.

Alec walked into the library, adjusting the cuffs on his plaid shirt. He looked around, quickly spotting the recreational reading section and walked over, picking out a poem book. He sat down on one of the couches, propping his feet across the length of it and sighed softly to himself as he began reading the poems in the book. The events from the previous day had bothered him but he was willing to let it go. It wasn't as if he'd ever see that girl again, and if he did, well... Well, she'd have to deal with cold silence. Rylee wouldn't get under his skin again. Still, he was content, in a better mood now that he had time to cool down and relax. flipping through the pages, he began losing himself in the mind of Emily Dickinson.

Rylee spotted Alec almost immediately and a grin stretched across her face. She wanted to bug him. Why? To spite him, of course, and because he was the only person she'd been able to talk to at all lately. She was tired of being alone. Besides, she still had a mystery to unravel didn't she?
Stepping over towards the recreational reading section, she glanced at the book and then snorted. "Emily Dickinson? I knew you weren't all harsh, but c'mon. Now you're into poetry? Next thing I know, I'll find out that you sing to the birds in the morning and are waiting for a prince to kiss you and end whatever curse you're stuck with," she said.
She knew he'd probably give her a sullen reply, if any at all, but she was nothing if not persistent. She reached up and grabbed a book. Edgar Allen Poe. "If you want people to think you're all dark and broody, you'd be better off with this one."
She tossed the book in front of him and then took a seat across from him at the table, staring at him in a manner she was sure was very irritating but which amused her.

Alec made a small oof sound when the heavy book was dropped on his lap. He sighed, closing his eyes. He knew that voice before he even had to look. Rylee. "Don't you have some hobbits or something to pursue, you little badger? In case you haven't noticed, I'm busy. And for the record, poetry is becoming, unlike that childish shit you undoubtedly came in to get." He glanced over at her, his eyes narrowing in irritation as he watched her sit like she belonged there. He picked up the Edgar Allan Poe book and leaned over to put it on the table, purposefully getting very close to her. He lingered for a moment then pulled away, leaning back into the couch and forced himself to look at the book he was holding once again. Some part of him was happy she was there, even if she annoyed the hell out of him. Oh well, he'd just have to live. Nothing was going to ruin his day today.

Rylee snorted. "Hobbits to pursue? Wow. Nice one." Rylee rolled her eyes, "And you don't even know what I came to get. It could be a book on physics or ancient runes or something on how to invent a really cool spell for spying."
In reality, she'd come to get something for her Charms homework. It wasn't childish, but it wasn't exactly advanced stuff either. Just something very normal."Besides, poetry is dull. Why can't someone just say what they want to say without getting all flowery and covering their meaning with metaphors and similes and crap?"

He raised an eyebrow, smiling softly without looking up from his book. "From fairest creatures we desire increase, that thereby beauty's rose might never die, but as the riper should by time decease, his tender heir might bear his memory." He closed his book with a tight snap, putting it aside. The words flowed out of him effortlessly, his voice silky and melodic as he quoted Shakespeare's first sonnet. He swung his feet off of the couch, planting them on the ground and placed his elbows on his knees, leaning forward and resting his chin on his clasped hands. He looked at her, smiling mischeviously. "I disagree. I think poetry has a way of speaking to the soul in a way hardly anything else can. Don't fret too much though if you can't understand it, poetry can be difficult for the dull and simple-minded."

"I disagree. I think poetry has a way of speaking to the soul in a way hardly anything else can. Don't fret too much though if you can't understand it, poetry can be difficult for the dull and simple-minded."
"I understand it just fine," she snapped, then calmness came back and she smiled beatifically at him, "But you would like poetry. It's veiled meanings and hidden messages probably suit you silly Slytherins just fine. You are always so scared of being yourself, always so content to hide in the shadows and pretend you're something you aren't. I prefer things to be straight-forward, and when they're not, I see through them to get to the straight forward meaning. After all, I figured your act out quickly enough."
Rylee opened the Edgar Allen Poe book, flipping mindlessly through the pages. Despite her words, she loved some poetry. Poe, in particular, had a special place in her heart. She rather liked the lilting and musical sound of the words, and he wasn't too hard to get at. In fact, for a poet, he could be quite straight forward. She liked that.

Alec stared at Rylee, his mouth agape for a moment. She made him fall silent... No one ever did that. What-- He cleared his throat, trying to jump start his brain into saying something insulting. Anything would work, really. He couldn't let her get away with saying things like that.
"I--The only thing you figured out is that your mom puts her feet shavings in the spaghetti dinners she cooks." He stood up, taking the Dickinson book with him. It wasn't his best insult, but it would do for now. With a smirk, he walked past her, putting his hand on her shoulder and shoved her playfully. "If you want to 'figure out' some other stuff, I suggest you get your burrowing ass up and follow me." From now on, they were going to play on his terms, and he would control how far she would get with him. Truth was, she intrigued him, and he wanted to find out more about her as well. Maybe the tables would flip now and he could be the one to make her uncomfortable.
